Train in Australia

Elite Cricket Academy · Hoppers Crossing and Pakenham, Melbourne

Train with our coaching panel at the Elite centres in Melbourne — as an individual player, or as a touring school, academy or club group.

  • Individual players train with the coaching panel, and where the timing and the standard fit, we work to get you match cricket in the local league.
  • Touring groups train at our facility and play fixtures against Melbourne school and club sides. Your own coaches travel with the group and stay responsible for it; we provide the facility, the coaching, the fixtures and the local arrangements.
  • For players under 18, everything is arranged with parents or guardians from the outset, and settled in writing before anyone travels.

VECL · Turf T20 in Melbourne

The league season: turf T20 across three franchises, with appointed officials, scoring and statistics. Team selection is open to everyone who registers, wherever they live.

  • December 2026 season — match days 24, 27, 28, 29 and 30 December, about 150 players, $20 to register.
  • A second turf T20 tournament from March, and JT20 and junior competitions through the season.
  • December 2026 age groups: Boys U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18; girls U14 and U16. What decides eligibility is the age group, and proof of age.

Train in India

High Performance International Pathway (HPIP) · Karnataka Institute of Cricket, Bengaluru

Eight-day high performance camps at KIOC each December and April — and from 2027 each September — coached by KIOC’s own staff on their surfaces.

  • Cement, turf, artificial turf and matting; video and speed analysis; strength and conditioning; an in-house physiotherapist through the camp.
  • The squad stays in quality 3–4 star hotel accommodation; the programme cost varies with the accommodation. The December squad leaves Melbourne on 13 December.
  • The way in is the try-out: Wed 4 & Mon 9 November, 7:00pm–9:00pm, in Melbourne. A player who cannot attend either trial — from interstate or overseas — is assessed another way. Contact us before the trials.

India

Play in India

Bengaluru with KIOC · Chennai with VECL Chennai

Match cricket in Indian conditions: against Indian opposition KIOC arranges during each camp, and in the VECL Chennai season across four franchises.

  • Every camp includes matches against Indian opposition arranged by KIOC — spin that grips from the first ball, in heat, against players who have never seen you bowl.
  • VECL Chennai Season 1: four franchises — Sholinganallur Falcons, Medavakkam Eagles, Velachery Warriors and Perungudi Panthers — playing franchise T20 on Sundays from 10 January to 25 April 2027, in U12 to Senior bands plus Girls U14, Girls U18 and Women. Registration is ₹250 at vecl.in and closes 22 November 2026.
  • Australian players looking for a season, tournament or training block in India or further afield can tell us what they are after — where something fits, we make the introduction.

From anywhere in the world

How to apply from overseas

  1. 01 Choose Train or play, in Australia or in India. Some players do all four across a year.
  2. 02 Register or enquire Registrations for the season and the HPIP try-out run through our booking app. Training and touring start with an enquiry.
  3. 03 We talk We come back to you about what is realistic for your age group and time of year. For under-18s, we speak to a parent first.
  4. 04 Assessment At a trial in Melbourne, or — if you cannot travel for it — another way, agreed with you. The standard is the same.
  5. 05 In writing Selection, dates, supervision, accommodation and duty of care are confirmed in writing before anyone travels.

An enquiry is not an application, and we cannot promise a placement or a fixture. Travel, visas and eligibility to play are matters for the relevant authorities.

Questions

Before you apply

Anything else: info@vecl.au

I live outside Australia. Can I really apply?

Yes. The league and the pathway are open to players from anywhere. Where you live has never decided whether you can play — your age group and proof of age do.

I cannot attend the try-outs in Melbourne. What happens?

Contact us before the trials on Wednesday 4 November & Monday 9 November 2026. A player who cannot attend is assessed another way, against the same standard. The booking app lets players applying from outside Victoria register without choosing a trial night.

Do you arrange visas and travel?

No. Travel, visas and eligibility to play are matters for you and the relevant authorities. We can tell you how previous visits were arranged, but we cannot advise on them.

Is there an age limit?

There is no single age limit. VECL runs junior competitions and senior cricket, for boys and girls and for men and women. Each competition sets its own age groups, and proof of age is required.

What does the India camp cost?

The try-out fee is $20. The programme price — what it includes, what it does not, and the payment schedule — is presented at the Player & Parent Information Session, Sunday 18 October 2026, 7:30pm Melbourne time, online.
