VECL March 2026 Tournament Official First list of Player Selection Announcement!

Congratulations to all the selected and enrolled players who are poised to engage in an exhilarating season of high-quality cricket. We are absolutely thrilled to welcome a fresh lineup of new names that will join the ranks of the exceptionally talented players who have been retained from previous editions of our league. This season promises to be exciting, and we eagerly anticipate the electrifying moments that will unfold on the field as you hit big sixes, knock over middle stumps, and make sensational catches that will leave the audience in awe.

The final team selection round is set to take place on February 23rd at the esteemed Elite Cricket Academy located in Hoppers Crossing. This event marks a significant milestone in the selection process, as it will determine the final roster of players who will represent their respective age groups in the upcoming season.

Players are encouraged to arrive early and prepare to showcase their skills in front of our distinguished panel of selectors.

The selection process will be meticulously supervised by an experienced and knowledgeable panel comprising:

1. Dale McDonald: The esteemed Head Coach of Footscray’s Victorian Premier Cricket Team, known for his strategic insights and ability to nurture talent.

2. George Shaw: A highly respected Senior Coach at Essendon Maribyrnong Premier Cricket Club and the Talent Identification Director, bringing a wealth of experience in developing young cricketers.

3. Shan Shanmugha: A dedicated Senior Coach and Selector for the U17 Regional team, recognized for his keen eye for talent and commitment to fostering the next generation of cricket stars.

For players who are already enrolled, attendance at this selection round is optional. However, for new participants, this represents your final opportunity to showcase your skills and make a lasting impression for selection into the league. The league will finalize the competitive 24-player roster for each age group following these selection sessions, ensuring that only the most talented and dedicated players represent us this season.
