JT20 12 & Under Championship: Trials Are Open

Last month we filled a room in the Slate, Melbourne CBD to celebrate the players, families and clubs who make the Victorian Elite Cricket League what it is — and to hand out the VECL & JT20 awards to a remarkable group of young cricketers. It was a reminder of why we built this league: to give junior players a real, elite stage to test themselves on.

Now it's your child's turn. Expressions of interest for the JT20 12 & Under Championship are now open — and the first selection trial is Tuesday 16 June. Play. Grow. Compete. Win.

What makes VECL different

VECL isn't another local comp. It's a performance focused, development pathway, franchise-branded, turf-wicket elite T20 league created specifically for junior cricketers — the kind of environment most kids don't get until they're much older.

  • Three franchises — the Northern Warriors, Western Falcons and Eastern Panthers — that players are proud to represent.

  • 400+ players across three tournaments a year, on proper turf wickets.

  • Live scoring and Live streaming of matches through our own scoring App, partnership — every ball scored, leader boards, MVP analytics and shareable digital performance cards your child can keep.

  • A real awards culture — the recognition we just celebrated at our 5th Anniversary & VECL Awards night.

It's elite junior cricket run like the leagues the kids watch on TV — and it sits right here in Melbourne.

A league that looks after its players

When heavy rain wiped out matches in our March 2026 tournament, we didn't cancel — under our terms we weren't obliged to replay them, but we organised make-up games across the July school holidays so every team could finish its season. That's the standard we hold ourselves to: the players come first.

More than a league

VECL is powered by the wider Elite ecosystem. The same people who run this league also run Elite Cricket Academy — five years of coaching, performance pathways, on-site gyms and player progress tracking across Hoppers Crossing and Pakenham. League play and serious coaching, joined up. (Read the Elite Cricket Academy story →www.elitecricketacademy.com.au)
